This is official. Spotted in France a few weeks ago, the new empress of the Canadian midfield, Ashley Lawrence, joins the Paris Saint-Germain until 2019, per a PSG press release.
At 21 years old, 46 caps and 4 international goals, Ashley Lawrence is part of the Canucks young guard. She’s got already some awesome achievements: she started every game with the CanWNT during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 and helped John Herdman’s Team to a back-to-back Olympic bronze medal last summer in Rio. As a college-star, she’s earned many accolades, including making the NSCAA All-America First Team and the All Big 12 First Team. She was also a semi-finalist for the 2015 Hermann Trophy.
She will be an awesome addition to the PSG team and will stay at least until the next World Cup, hosted in France.
“It’s an immense source of pride to join Paris Saint-Germain,” Ashley Lawrence reacted after putting pen to paper. “Joining this very big club is the next step in my career. Everything the coach and directors had to say convinced me to sign here and give my all for the club. I have big ambitions here with Paris SaintGermain.”
“Ashley is one of the most promising young players in the world under 22 years of age at her position,” underlined Olivier Létang, Paris Saint-Germain Sports Director. “It’s very satisfying to see her sign for us looking to continue her development and show her talents to the Parisian fans. Her arrival is in perfect keeping with our policy of bringing up talented young players alongside established world-class talents.” – PSG Press release
